Mysuru Dasara Traffic Restrictions Extended Till October 31

Mysuru police have extended traffic and parking restrictions across key parts of the city until October 31 after the Dasara illumination period was extended for 2026. The regulations will apply daily from 3pm to midnight to support smoother traffic movement and public safety around the city’s major visitor destinations.

Mysuru City police chief Seema Latkar issued the order under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the Karnataka Traffic Control Act, 1960. The measures include one-way traffic systems, restrictions on vehicle movement around major junctions and a ban on parking along several important roads.

An anticlockwise one-way traffic system will operate around Mysuru Palace. The notified route covers Chamaraja Wadiyar Circle, KR Circle, New Sayyaji Rao Road, Rachaiah Circle, Basaveshwara Circle, Gun House, Wrestling Akhada Junction, BN Road, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle and Albert Victor Road.

A clockwise traffic system will be implemented around Big Clock Tower, Ashoka Road, Irwin Road and Nehru Circle. Additional one-way regulations will apply to Old Bank Road, Ashoka Road, Banumaiah Road, Thyagaraja Road, Lokaranjan Road, Shalivahana Road and Ramanuja Road during the specified evening and night hours.

Parking will be prohibited on both sides of several roads to prevent congestion. The restrictions cover roads surrounding Mysuru Palace, as well as Sayyaji Rao Road, JLB Road, MG Road, BN Road, Ashoka Road and Nelson Mandela Road. Parking controls will also apply in areas near Mysuru Zoo and the Exhibition Grounds, which are expected to draw visitors during the illumination period.

The extended order places the city’s principal cultural and tourist precincts under a coordinated traffic management plan during the busiest part of the day. The restrictions are intended to keep vehicle movement flowing near the Palace and other high-footfall locations while reducing roadside parking that could narrow carriageways.

Motorists and visitors have been asked to follow traffic signs and instructions issued by traffic personnel. The police have appealed for public cooperation with the regulations through October 31, when the extended illumination-related arrangements are scheduled to remain in force.
