Musi Riverfront Project Gets Rs 1,108 Crore Temple-Road Push

The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 1,108.27 crore for the development of the Omkareshwara Swamy temple complex at Manchirevula and a six-lane road linked to the Musi Riverfront Project, according to government orders reported by Deccan Chronicle.

The allocation includes Rs 948.65 crore for the temple complex, where planned structures include rajagopurams, a yagashala and a pushkarini. The project will form part of development activity around Manchirevula, an area being connected to the wider Musi Riverfront road network.

A further Rs 159.62 crore has been sanctioned for a six-lane road that will be 30 metres, or 100 feet, wide and approximately 2.5 km long. The road will run from Istana Villas to Kirti Westwind Villas and connect towards the Greyhounds and Young India Police School areas.

The government order states that the road will improve connectivity to the temple complex and link it with the Musi Riverfront road network. The sanction places the road component within a larger package combining religious-site development with access infrastructure in the western Hyderabad area.

The government has also constituted a technical committee for the Omkareshwara temple development. The committee will provide technical guidance on designs, detailed project reports, rates and tenders. Its creation was notified through G.O.Rt.No.929, while the financial and administrative sanctions were issued through G.O.Rt.No.928.

The Roads and Buildings Engineer-in-Chief will chair the committee, with the Public Health Engineer-in-Chief as co-chairman and the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited chief engineer as convener. The Endowments chief engineer, temple architecture expert Dr E. Sivanagireddy and the Additional Secretary of the Finance Department are also members.

The source report refers to the temple project as a Rs 700 crore project in describing the committee’s technical responsibilities, while the separate administrative sanction allocates Rs 948.65 crore for the temple complex. The government orders cited in the report do not provide a construction timeline or tender deadline. Further implementation will depend on the technical committee’s work on designs, detailed project reports, rates and tenders.
