Musi Riverfront Gets Rs 1,108 Crore Boost for Temple and Road

The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 1,108.27 crore for developing the Omkareshwara Swamy temple complex at Manchirevula and building a six-lane road linked to the Musi Riverfront development project, according to government orders reported by Deccan Chronicle.

The sanctions were issued through G.O.Rt.No.928. Of the total amount, Rs 948.65 crore has been allocated for the temple complex, where structures including rajagopurams, a yagashala and a pushkarini will be developed. The project is part of the government’s planned works around the temple site at Manchirevula.

A further Rs 159.62 crore has been sanctioned for a six-lane road measuring 30 metres, or about 100 feet, in width. The approximately 2.5-km road will run from Istana Villas to Kirti Westwind Villas and connect areas around the Greyhounds and Young India Police School.

The road is also intended to improve access to the Omkareshwara temple complex and connect it with the road network being developed under the Musi Riverfront project. Its inclusion in the same sanction places the temple development within a wider infrastructure programme rather than treating the complex as an isolated construction site.

The government has separately constituted a technical committee to guide the temple development works. The committee will provide technical inputs on designs, detailed project reports, rates and tenders for the temple project, which the report places at a cost of Rs 700 crore.

The Roads and Buildings Engineer-in-Chief will chair the committee, while the Public Health Engineer-in-Chief will serve as co-chairman. The Chief Engineer of the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited will be its convener. The committee will also include the Endowments Chief Engineer, temple architecture expert Dr E. Sivanagireddy and the Additional Secretary of the Finance Department.

The committee’s constitution was notified through G.O.Rt.No.929. Its composition brings together the Roads and Buildings, public health engineering, Endowments, Musi Riverfront and Finance departments, along with a specialist in temple architecture.

The two government orders establish the immediate administrative framework for the works: funding has been sanctioned for the temple complex and connecting road, while a multi-department technical body has been assigned responsibility for guiding project preparation and procurement-related decisions. The next stages will involve designs, detailed project reports, rates and tenders under the committee’s technical oversight.
