The Pune Police Economic Offences Wing has issued a notice to Member of Parliament Parth Pawar in connection with the alleged Mundhwa land scam, seeking to examine whether he had any role in a disputed 40-acre transaction involving Amedea Enterprises, according to Civic Mirror – Pune.
The notice is part of an investigation into the sale and transfer of the land, which allegedly involved irregularities and the non-payment of stamp duty estimated at about Rs 21 crore. Investigators are preparing to record Pawar’s statement and are examining his alleged links with Amedea Enterprises and with individuals connected to the transaction.
The inquiry is expected to cover Pawar’s interactions with Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani and Digvijay Amarsingh Patil, as well as the extent of his knowledge of the land deal. Investigators are also examining the circumstances in which the transaction took place and the relationships among the people involved, the report said.
The Mundhwa property was reportedly sold to Amedea Enterprises through a process involving Tejwani, who held powers of attorney on behalf of 272 landholders. Patil is identified in the report as a partner in Amedea Enterprises. The police investigation is examining the roles played by the landholders’ representative, the company’s partners and other parties involved in the transaction.
The alleged stamp-duty evasion is a central part of the case. Officials are also examining purported irregularities in government orders connected with the land sale and in the registration process. These issues place the transaction within the wider administrative chain involving land records, revenue decisions, document registration and stamp-duty assessment.
The report identifies suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yeole as facing allegations of issuing improper orders linked to the transaction. Suspended sub-registrar Ravindra Balkrishna Taru has also been accused of irregularities relating to document registration and stamp duty. The allegations are under investigation and do not by themselves establish criminal liability.
Police have already filed a chargesheet against Tejwani and Patil in the case, according to the report. The continuing investigation is examining the sequence of events, the role of the officials involved and whether other individuals participated in or had knowledge of the transaction.
The EOW’s decision to record Pawar’s statement gives the investigation a new step in a case involving a large landholding, multiple landowners and alleged losses to the public exchequer. The statement is expected to help investigators assess the circumstances surrounding the deal and determine the extent of involvement, if any, of people connected to it. Civic Mirror – Pune did not report a date for the questioning.
