Mumbai voter registration camps will be held on September 19, 20, 26 and 27 for citizens whose names are missing from the draft electoral rolls or who need to correct existing entries, according to information released under the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision programme.
The camps will be organised at designated locations across all Assembly constituencies in Mumbai city and Mumbai suburban districts. Eligible residents can use the camps to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll, seek corrections to existing details or submit requests related to deletion of names.
The draft electoral rolls were published on August 31 as part of the revision exercise. Citizens who find that their names are missing, or who have objections concerning entries in the draft rolls, can submit claims and objections until September 30, 2026.
The scheduling of two of the four camp days during Ganeshotsav has raised concerns about accessibility. September 19 coincides with Gauri immersion, while September 19 and 20 fall during the Ganesh festival period. Many Mumbai residents are also expected to travel to their native places for the celebrations, potentially reducing their ability to visit the designated centres on those dates.
The camps are intended to assist new voters and eligible citizens whose names were not included in the draft list. They will also provide an avenue for voters to seek corrections in electoral-roll entries and initiate requests concerning names that should be removed from the list.
Ashwini Bhide, the district election officer and Mumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner, has appealed to Mumbai voters to make use of the special registration facilities. The exercise covers both Mumbai city and Mumbai suburban districts and forms part of the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision programme.
The immediate deadline for citizens is September 30, 2026, when the period for filing claims and objections to the draft electoral rolls closes.
