The attackers who allegedly opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Juhu on Sunday evening travelled nearly 4 km through busy Mumbai junctions during peak hour, abandoned their motorcycle outside a police beat chowky and escaped on foot through Andheri station, according to details reported by the Indian Express.
The firing took place around 7 pm, barely 100 metres from Juhu police station. Two people, including Shroff’s driver and another person standing near the car, were injured in the incident. Three people linked to the case have been detained from Kota in Rajasthan, the report said.
After the shooting, three men allegedly rode triple-seat on a single motorcycle towards Andheri railway station. Their route included junctions near Mithibai College, SV Road and the Andheri east-west flyover. These are among the western suburbs’ busiest traffic points, where traffic police are generally deployed during evening peak hours.
The motorcycle was reportedly left outside a police beat chowky near Andheri at about 9 pm, roughly two hours after the firing. The vehicle has been seized and taken to DN Nagar police station. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects may have booked a car after crossing the railway bridge from the western side of Andheri station to the eastern side, a police officer told the newspaper.
Mumbai Police are examining CCTV footage from Andheri East to trace the suspects’ movements, identify the car they allegedly used and determine whether anyone assisted their escape. Fifteen teams have been formed, and the case is likely to be transferred to the Crime Branch, according to the report.
Police have not confirmed the involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A social media post purportedly linked to the gang has claimed responsibility, but that claim remains unverified by the authorities. The incident has nevertheless drawn attention to a recurring pattern in recent high-profile attacks in Mumbai, in which suspects have managed to leave crowded locations before police could intercept them.
The report linked the episode to the October 2024 killing of Baba Siddique and shootings outside the homes of actor Salman Khan and filmmaker Rohit Shetty. In those cases, the accused also reportedly escaped from densely occupied parts of the western suburbs and left the state or city before being arrested.
The immediate investigation will focus on reconstructing the suspects’ route using CCTV footage, forensic examination of the seized motorcycle and identifying the vehicle allegedly used after the Andheri station crossing. The police response and any decision to transfer the case to the Crime Branch remain the next official steps.
