Mumbai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Sleeper Brings Overnight Rail Link

The first Mumbai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Sleeper Express will begin regular service on November 2, offering an overnight rail connection between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru. The inaugural run is scheduled to be flagged off from Bengaluru on November 1.

According to the schedule released by South Western Railway, train 27651 will leave CSMT at 8.10 pm and reach SMVT Bengaluru at noon the following day. The return service, train 27652, will depart from Bengaluru at 7.45 pm and arrive at CSMT at 11.55 am the next day.

Both services will operate six days a week. The CSMT-Bengaluru train will not run on Tuesdays, while the Bengaluru-CSMT service will remain cancelled on Mondays. The schedule gives passengers an overnight option on a 1,118-km route that connects two major metropolitan and employment centres.

The train will halt at Kalyan, Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Guntakal and Anantapur, in addition to the originating and terminating stations. The late-evening departure from Mumbai will distinguish the new service from the existing Udyan Express, which leaves the city in the morning.

The 16-coach train will comprise 11 AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches and one AC first-class coach. The rake will provide a total of 823 berths. The sleeper configuration is intended to serve passengers travelling between Maharashtra and Karnataka for work, business and tourism, while providing an alternative to air travel.

Indicative fares are expected to range from Rs 2,600 to Rs 4,250, depending on the class selected. Railway authorities have not yet released the final fare details, so the published prices may differ from the expected range.

The service will extend the Vande Bharat Sleeper network to another major intercity corridor. The country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 17, 2026, on the Howrah-Kamakhya route. For the Mumbai-Bengaluru corridor, the next operational milestone is the scheduled inaugural run from Bengaluru on November 1, followed by regular services from November 2.
