Punjab Public Works minister Harbhajan Singh ETO distributed ownership cards to 119 property owners in Rakh Devidaspur, also known as Amarkot, under the state government’s Mera Ghar-Mera Maan scheme. The beneficiaries’ properties fall within the Lal Dora area of the village in Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency.
The cards are intended to provide documentary proof of ownership to residents who, according to the minister, have often faced difficulties establishing their property rights because they did not possess formal property documents. The distribution took place during a gathering in the village on Saturday, as reported by the Times of India.
The ownership cards contain identifying information for each surveyed property. This includes geographical coordinates showing latitude and longitude, the total covered area, the area under construction, the open area and maps of the surveyed units.
The documentation is designed to create a clearer record of properties located within the Lal Dora. In the statement reported by the newspaper, ETO said the cards would help establish property rights and maintain proper records. He also said the lack of clear ownership documents had contributed to difficulties for residents.
The minister linked the initiative to disputes within families over property rights. He said documentary clarity provided through the cards could reduce the likelihood of such disputes by recording the location, extent and physical characteristics of each surveyed property.
The distribution in Rakh Devidaspur is part of the Punjab government’s stated effort to provide formal ownership documentation to residents whose properties fall within Lal Dora areas. For the 119 recipients, the cards establish an official record containing property-related details that were previously difficult to verify through formal documents.
The initiative also places property mapping at the centre of the documentation process. By recording coordinates, covered and open areas, construction details and maps, the cards connect ownership claims with a surveyed physical location. The information is intended to support the maintenance of property records and provide residents with documentary evidence of their rights.
The minister’s remarks did not specify the total number of Lal Dora properties covered across Punjab, the next villages scheduled for distribution or the administrative timeline for extending the programme. The immediate milestone reported from Rakh Devidaspur is the issuance of 119 ownership cards under Mera Ghar-Mera Maan.
