Torrent Green Energy has commissioned 322 MWp of decentralised solar projects across Nashik district in Maharashtra under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0, Torrent Power said on Tuesday.
The projects have been developed to support feeder-level solarisation under Component-C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme. Power generated by the facilities will be supplied to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
According to a company statement, Torrent Green Energy’s ground-mounted solar portfolio is spread across 50 locations and 14 talukas in Nashik district. The decentralised facilities are intended to bring generation closer to agricultural demand centres and provide daytime electricity to rural feeders serving farmers.
“This milestone reinforces Torrent’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition while empowering the agricultural sector with reliable and sustainable daytime electricity supply,” Jigish Mehta, whole-time director of Torrent Power, said in the statement.
The MSKVY 2.0 scheme was launched to implement feeder-level solarisation under PM-KUSUM’s Component-C. In this model, local solar plants supply electricity to agricultural feeders, linking renewable generation with the electricity demand of farms and rural distribution networks.
Torrent Power said the project required coordinated development across multiple locations. The work involved resolving land-related issues, securing grid connectivity and local clearances, and carrying out engineering and construction activities simultaneously across the project sites.
The company said the decentralised arrangement is expected to support daytime electricity supply for farmers, improve grid efficiency and reduce distribution losses. The announcement, however, did not provide project-wise generation figures, the total investment involved, or details of the individual feeder connections.
The commissioning adds to the renewable-generation assets being developed by Torrent Power, an integrated utility with operations across generation, transmission and distribution. The company described the Nashik portfolio as one of the most extensive and geographically diversified agricultural feeder solarisation projects implemented under the MSKVY framework.
The projects will now supply electricity to MSEDCL under the agreed 25-year power purchase arrangement. The company statement did not specify whether all 50 locations began commercial supply simultaneously or provide a separate timeline for the start of operations at each site.
