Torrent Green Energy has commissioned 322 MWp of decentralised solar projects across Nashik district in Maharashtra under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0, the company said on Tuesday.
The projects are being implemented under Component-C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme, which supports feeder-level solarisation for agricultural power supply. Electricity generated by the projects will be supplied to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
According to a statement issued by Torrent Power, the solar portfolio comprises ground-mounted projects developed across 50 locations and 14 talukas in Nashik district. The company described it as one of the most extensive and geographically diversified agricultural feeder-solarisation projects implemented under the MSKVY framework.
“This milestone reinforces Torrent’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition while empowering the agricultural sector with reliable and sustainable daytime electricity supply,” Jigish Mehta, whole-time director of Torrent Power, said in the statement.
The MSKVY 2.0 programme is intended to bring solar generation closer to agricultural demand centres. Under the arrangement, local solar plants supply power to rural feeders, with the stated objective of providing farmers with daytime electricity while improving grid efficiency and reducing distribution losses.
Torrent said the project required coordinated development across multiple locations. The work included resolving land-related issues, securing grid connectivity and local clearances, and carrying out engineering and construction activities simultaneously across the project sites.
The commissioned capacity is expected to support the solarisation of agricultural feeders connected to MSEDCL’s distribution network. The company said the arrangement would contribute to cleaner power generation and more reliable daytime electricity for agricultural consumers, although the statement did not provide details of the number of feeders or farmers covered by the project.
Torrent Green Energy is a subsidiary of Torrent Power, an integrated utility operating across power generation, transmission and distribution. Torrent Power is part of the Torrent Group. The company statement did not specify whether additional capacity under MSKVY 2.0 is scheduled to be commissioned in Nashik or elsewhere in Maharashtra.
The projects will now supply electricity to MSEDCL under the agreed 25-year power purchase arrangement, according to Torrent Power.
