The Maharashtra government has released the fourth list under its farm loan waiver scheme, clearing the way for relief for 1,15,697 more farmers, including 16,246 from Pune district. The list covers crop-loan borrowers who hold accounts with more than one bank and was released on Thursday under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjamukti Yojana.
With the latest release, the total number of farmers included across the four lists has reached 25,82,827. The first list covered 16,96,201 farmers, followed by 4,19,737 in the second list and 3,51,192 in the third. Together, the first three lists included 24,67,130 beneficiaries.
The government has said that the waiver amount will be credited to eligible loan accounts after Aadhaar authentication. The names in the fourth list have been made available through banks, development institutions and gram panchayats, allowing beneficiaries to check their inclusion locally.
The scheme applies to crop loans and restructured loans disbursed between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2025. These loans must have been overdue by 30 September 2025 and must remain unpaid by 31 March 2026 to qualify for relief of up to Rs 2 lakh. The report states that overdue amounts above Rs 2 lakh will also be considered under a haircut policy.
Banks have uploaded details of 31.17 lakh overdue loan accounts on the government portal. The data is being examined computationally by MahaIT before the eligible accounts are finalised. The process requires verification of the outstanding amount as of 31 March 2026, followed by Aadhaar authentication.
The fourth list includes 73,921 farmers with loans from district cooperative banks and 41,776 with loans from commercial banks. At the divisional level, the source lists 30,247 beneficiaries for Pune, 4,602 for Nagpur, 13,340 for Amravati, 47,547 for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 14,165 for Nashik and 5,796 for Konkan. The Pune division figure is separate from the 16,246 beneficiaries identified for Pune district in the report.
The administration has also prescribed a separate procedure for deceased and elderly beneficiaries. For farmers whose overdue amount and identity details are confirmed, Aadhaar authentication remains the next step before the waiver is deposited into the relevant loan account. Banks and local institutions are expected to facilitate access to the published list and the verification process.
