Kolkata Metro Extends Durga Puja Services Through 4am

Kolkata Metro will run extended and overnight services during Durga Puja from October 15 to October 21, with the Blue Line operating until about 4am on four festival days and the Green Line also running into the early morning. The special timetable, issued by Kolkata Metro, includes separate operating hours for the Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple and Orange lines, along with arrangements intended to manage festival crowds.

On Panchami and Shashthi, October 15 and 16, the Blue Line will operate from 6am to 11pm, with 284 trains scheduled in both directions. During busy periods, the interval between trains will be six minutes. The last train from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram will leave at 10.48pm, while the last service from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar will depart at 10.50pm. Additional trains will run from Dakshineswar to Tollygunge and from Shahid Khudiram to Dum Dum at 11pm.

For four festival days beginning October 17, Blue Line services will start at 1pm and continue until 4am. The first trains will leave from Dum Dum, Dakshineswar, Shahid Khudiram, Tollygunge, Gitanjali, Shyambazar and Noapara at 1pm. The last train from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram will leave at about 3.46am, followed by a 4am service running only to Tollygunge. In the opposite direction, the last train from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar will leave at 3.48am, while the 4am service will run to Dum Dum.

The Green Line will also provide early-morning services during the same four-day period. The first train from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V will leave at 1.30pm and the last at 3.52am. From Salt Lake Sector V, the first train to Howrah Maidan will depart at 1.34pm and the final service at 3.59am. On Dashami, October 21, services on the Green Line will begin at 1.30pm but will end at 10.30pm in both directions.

The Blue Line timetable will be reduced on Dashami. First trains from Shahid Khudiram, Dakshineswar, Dum Dum, Noapara and Tollygunge will leave between 1pm and 1.05pm. The last train from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram and from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar will leave at 10.20pm. Services to Tollygunge and Dum Dum will run until about 10.30pm.

The Yellow Line will follow different timings. On Panchami and Shashthi, trains from Noapara to Jai Hind Bimanbandar will operate from 7.18am to 9pm, while services from the airport to Noapara will run from 7.40am to 9.20pm. During the four later festival days, the line will not operate overnight; services will begin at 3pm from Noapara and 3.24pm from the airport, with final trains at 10.30pm and 10.53pm respectively. On Dashami, the last services will leave Noapara at 9.14pm and the airport at 9.38pm.

The Purple Line between Joka and Majerhat will run every 21 minutes on Panchami and Shashthi, with services beginning at 6.40am from Joka and 7.03am from Majerhat. From the later festival days through Dashami, the interval will be 25 minutes, with trains starting at 3pm from Joka and 3.25pm from Majerhat. The Orange Line between Kavi Subhash and Beleghata will run every 25 minutes on Panchami and Shashthi but will remain closed from the seventh festival day through Dashami.
