Kolkata Metro’s Blue Line will run with reduced services on Sunday, November 1, as power block and maintenance work is carried out on the corridor. The disruption will affect services between Maidan and Shahid Khudiram from 9am to 6pm, according to a notification issued by Kolkata Metro on Friday.
During the maintenance period, trains will not operate on the section between Maidan and Shahid Khudiram. On the down line, passengers will be able to travel between Dakshineswar and Maidan, while the same limited route will operate on the up line, according to the report.
The arrangement means that commuters travelling beyond Maidan towards Shahid Khudiram, or in the reverse direction from Shahid Khudiram towards Maidan, will not have a direct Blue Line Metro service during the scheduled work. Passengers using the corridor will need to account for the partial operation when planning Sunday journeys.
Kolkata Metro has said that services on the full Blue Line route are expected to resume by 6pm after the maintenance and power block work is completed. The notification does not provide further details about the specific maintenance activity or whether alternative transport arrangements will be made available during the restricted-service period.
The Blue Line is a key north-south Metro corridor connecting Dakshineswar with Shahid Khudiram. A temporary restriction on the Maidan–Shahid Khudiram section will therefore divide normal through operations into two limited service patterns for much of the day.
The timing of the work is particularly relevant for Sunday passengers, including people travelling between central Kolkata and the southern parts of the corridor. Commuters should check the operating position before starting their journey and allow additional time if their destination lies beyond Maidan.
According to the schedule reported from the Kolkata Metro notification, partial services will continue from 9am until 6pm on November 1. Normal services across the full Blue Line route are expected to be restored after 6pm, subject to completion of the planned work.
