The Kochi Spice Coast Marathon will be held on October 25 from Marine Drive, with around 6,500 people already registered and free Kochi Metro travel planned for participants. The event will begin at 3.30am and will be organised jointly by Kochi Corporation and Soles of Cochin.
Mayor V K Minimol said the marathon would bring together professional athletes, recreational runners, families, corporate teams, institutions and running clubs. Marine Drive will serve as both the starting point and the finish venue.
The competition will include a Full Marathon covering 42.2km, a Half Marathon covering 21.1km and a Family Fun Run of between 5km and 8km. Trophies will be awarded to the winners, according to the report.
To support early-morning travel, Kochi Metro will operate special services from Tripunithura and Aluva to MG Road station. Metro feeder buses will connect MG Road station with Marine Drive, allowing registered participants to reach the venue using the coordinated transit arrangements.
Travel on the Kochi Metro and the feeder bus services will be free for registered participants. The arrangement places the city’s rapid-transit network at the centre of access planning for an event that begins before regular daytime travel patterns typically start.
The organisers have provided 8075195663 as the contact number for additional information about registration and participation.
