Kasara Railway Block Disrupts Trains, Forces Diversions Via Pune

The Kasara railway block between October 14 and 16 has led Central Railway to cancel two Duronto Express services, divert five long-distance trains through Pune and revise the departure times of several services leaving Mumbai.

The disruption affects passengers travelling on routes linked to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. The Howrah–CSMT and CSMT–Howrah Duronto Express services are among the major trains affected during the block period.

Five trains will use the Kalyan–Karjat–Pune–Manmad route instead of their regular paths. The affected services are the CSMT–Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express, Dadar–Ballia Express, CSMT–Jabalpur Garib Rath Express, Dadar–Gorakhpur Express and CSMT–Nagpur Sevagram Express.

The CSMT–Howrah Duronto Express, which was originally scheduled to depart at 5.15 pm on October 15, will now leave at 12.20 am on October 16, according to the revised schedule. The CSMT–New Delhi Rajdhani Express will also depart later than usual on October 14 and 15.

Some services are expected to run behind schedule rather than being cancelled or diverted. The Shirdi–CSMT Vande Bharat Express and Nanded–CSMT Tapovan Express may be delayed by around 15 to 25 minutes during the block period.

Several trains originating at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus have also been rescheduled. On October 14, the LTT–Gorakhpur Express will depart at 5.50 pm instead of 4.35 pm. The LTT–Sitapur Express will leave at 5.35 pm, compared with its earlier departure time of 4.25 pm, while the LTT–Dhanbad Express will start at 6.05 pm instead of 4.55 pm.

Further changes are scheduled for October 15. The LTT–Gorakhpur, LTT–Rani Kamalapati and LTT–Chhapra Express services are also expected to depart later than their regular timings.

The route changes mean that passengers on diverted trains will travel through Pune and Manmad instead of using their usual alignments. The operational impact is spread across long-distance services connecting Mumbai with destinations including Howrah, Gorakhpur, Ballia, Jabalpur, Nagpur, New Delhi, Sitapur, Dhanbad, Rani Kamalapati and Chhapra.

Passengers travelling during the block have been advised to check the latest departure times, routes and running status through official railway channels before leaving for stations. The revised schedules will apply during the October 14-16 block period.
