Karnataka Weather Turns Colder Before Rain Returns From November 2

Karnataka weather has turned noticeably cooler in several parts of the state, with Davanagere recording the lowest minimum temperature at 12.8 degrees Celsius as the India Meteorological Department forecast light rain in parts of Karnataka from November 2. Bengaluru, the Malnad region and central Karnataka have also experienced cooler nights, while fog has been reported in some areas.

The IMD has forecast cloudy conditions and isolated light rain from October 29 to November 1 in parts of Kalyana Karnataka, south interior Karnataka and coastal Karnataka under the influence of Cyclone Arnab, according to the report. Most other areas are expected to continue with sunny and dry weather during this period.

The department said maximum temperatures could remain above normal in some interior parts of Karnataka, while other areas are likely to record temperatures within the usual range. From November 2, light to moderate rain is expected at isolated places across the state.

On October 29, mainly dry weather was forecast for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, as well as the northern interior districts of Belagavi, Bagalkot, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir. Dry conditions were also expected in Kodagu, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, Ballari, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Mandya and Vijayanagara.

The latest readings show a sharp variation across the state. Davanagere recorded a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.8 degrees. Belagavi airport recorded a minimum of 13.6 degrees, while Bengaluru HAL airport recorded 16.6 degrees and Kempegowda International Airport recorded 17.8 degrees. Shivamogga recorded a minimum of 15.8 degrees and Agumbe 16.9 degrees.

Coastal and northern locations remained warmer during the day. Mangaluru airport recorded a maximum of 33.8 degrees Celsius, Karwar 34.2 degrees, Vijayapura and Raichur 34 degrees, and Kalaburagi 35 degrees. Honnavar in Uttara Kannada recorded the highest maximum temperature mentioned in the report at 36.1 degrees, with a minimum of 21.5 degrees.

The IMD forecast indicates that night-time cold and fog may continue in parts of the state as October ends. The report notes that Karnataka generally moves from the monsoon season between June and September into cooler conditions from October, with colder weather usually becoming more pronounced in November and continuing until January. It also cites experts who attribute recent changes in seasonal patterns to variations in rainfall and wider weather disturbances. The next major forecast window is November 2, when light to moderate rain is expected at scattered locations across Karnataka.
