Karnataka rainfall intensified across Bengaluru South, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Kolar and nearby districts over the past 24 hours, with Koodlooru in Channapatna taluk recording the state’s highest total of 145.5 mm, according to data released by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre.
The rainfall followed a hot and humid day in several parts of the state and brought relief from high temperatures. However, the concentration of heavy showers in southern Karnataka also places pressure on local roads, drainage systems, low-lying areas and rural links connecting towns and villages.
Channapatna taluk recorded several of the highest totals. Honganur received 128 mm, while Magadi taluk recorded 126.5 mm at Taggikuppe, 119 mm at Nethanahalli, 118 mm at Magadi and 116.5 mm at Madabala. The figures indicate that the rainfall was not confined to a single location but affected a broad belt around Ramanagara district.
Mandya district also reported heavy rainfall at multiple monitoring points. Bhoohalli in Malavalli taluk received 114 mm, while Belakavadi recorded 111.5 mm and Bandur 119 mm. Koolagere in Maddur taluk received 103 mm, while Kaggalipura in Malavalli recorded 98.5 mm.
Several locations in Mysuru, Ramanagara and Mandya recorded close to 100 mm. T. Doddapura in T. Narasipura taluk, Doddamaralawadi in Kanakapura taluk and Hoda Ghatta in Mandya taluk each received 98 mm. Nidasale in Kunigal taluk of Tumakuru district recorded 95 mm.
Other notable totals included 93.6 mm in Kolar, 93.5 mm at Benakanahalli in T. Narasipura taluk, 92.5 mm at Kolathur, 90.5 mm at Kolagondanahalli in Kanakapura taluk, and 90 mm at Hulivana in Mandya taluk. Huluwadi in Mandya received 88 mm.
Rainfall was also reported in parts of Kolar, Chamarajanagar and Bengaluru Urban districts. Dho Alapalli in Mulbagal taluk recorded 83.5 mm, while N.G. Hulikur in Bangarpet taluk received 82.5 mm. Sadiyamman in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar recorded 81 mm, and Ukkalagere in T. Narasipura taluk received 80.5 mm.
Within the Bengaluru region, Bommanahalli recorded 68.5 mm and Mantapa in Anekal taluk received 67 mm. The rainfall totals are significant because intense showers in built-up areas can quickly test storm-water drains and road surfaces, although the report does not provide details of flooding, traffic disruption, damage or emergency response.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre’s rainfall observations cover locations across the affected districts. The next operational focus for local administrations will be monitoring further rainfall, drainage conditions and access routes in areas that recorded the highest totals.
