Kalyan-Dombivli Water Cut: 18-Hour Shutdown on October 27

The Kalyan-Dombivli water cut will affect parts of Kalyan, Dombivli and surrounding rural areas for 18 hours on Tuesday, October 27, as the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation carries out electrical and mechanical maintenance at four water treatment plants.

According to a statement issued by the KDMC Water Supply Department, the shutdown will begin at 6 am and continue until midnight. The maintenance work is scheduled at the Barave, Mohili, Netivali and Titwala water treatment plants.

The affected urban areas include Kalyan East, Kalyan West, Dombivli East and Dombivli West. The shutdown will also cover parts of the Kalyan rural division, including Manda, Titwala, Vadavali, Ambivli, Shahad, Atali and other villages, the civic body said.

KDMC has advised residents in the affected localities to store sufficient water before the shutdown begins and use it judiciously while supplies remain suspended. The civic body has appealed to residents to cooperate during the maintenance and repair work.

The planned interruption highlights the operational dependence of the Kalyan-Dombivli region on a network of treatment plants serving a large and expanding urban area. By scheduling work across four facilities at the same time, the civic authority has warned residents in multiple municipal zones and rural settlements to prepare for a prolonged disruption rather than a short, localised interruption.

The KDMC announcement comes alongside a separate water shutdown announced by the Thane Municipal Corporation. Several parts of Thane, including Kalwa, Diva and Mumbra, are scheduled to face a 36-hour interruption from midnight on Thursday, October 22, until noon on Saturday, October 24. The Thane shutdown concerns areas supplied by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation through its Jambhul water treatment plant.

In Thane, the affected areas include all of Diva, all of Mumbra except certain parts of wards 26 and 31, and areas under the Kalwa ward committee. The TMC has also listed Rupadevi Pada, Kisan Nagar No. 2 and Nehru Nagar in the Wagle ward, along with Kolshet Khalcha Gaon in the Manpada ward. It warned that some areas could experience low water pressure for one to two days after supply resumes.

For Kalyan-Dombivli residents, the KDMC has not stated that a low-pressure period will continue after midnight on October 27. Its current advisory is focused on storing water in advance and managing household consumption during the 18-hour maintenance window.
