JSCA Stadium security and crowd-control arrangements are being tightened in Ranchi ahead of the second India-West Indies T20 International on October 9, with the district administration ordering officials to prevent ticketless spectators from gathering around the stadium.
The instructions were issued at a review meeting on law and order, traffic management and security arrangements for the match, which is expected to draw a large crowd. Deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri directed officials to remove people without valid tickets from the stadium perimeter before the entry gates open at 3 pm.
Spectators will be allowed to enter the JSCA International Stadium only through designated gates and in orderly queues, according to the administration. Bhajantri asked ticket holders to reach the designated queueing locations before the gates open to avoid inconvenience.
“Spectators are requested to arrive and queue up at the designated locations before the entry gates open to avoid inconvenience and ensure they can enjoy the match to the fullest,” Bhajantri said, according to the report.
The district administration also urged spectators not to carry prohibited items into the stadium. Officials and representatives of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association were asked to coordinate closely and complete the logistical arrangements on time.
Security is being strengthened in and around the stadium complex as part of the preparations. The administration appealed to residents and cricket fans to follow traffic rules, park only in designated areas and report suspicious activity to the police control room.
The match-day arrangements are expected to affect traffic movement and parking near the stadium, particularly as spectators arrive ahead of the 3 pm gate-opening time. The administration’s direction to keep ticketless people away from the stadium perimeter is intended to limit unauthorised crowding around the entry points.
The review meeting was attended by the Ranchi senior superintendent of police, sub-divisional officer, city superintendent of police, traffic superintendent of police, JSCA president and other officials. The district administration and JSCA will continue coordinating the remaining logistical, traffic and security arrangements before the match.
