Jindal Stainless has signed a technical assistance agreement with Japan’s JFE Steel Corporation to strengthen manufacturing capabilities for selected ferritic stainless steel grades, the Indian company said on Monday.
India | September 7, 2026 — The agreement will focus on improving product quality and manufacturing practices for the grades covered by the pact, according to a regulatory filing cited by Jindal Stainless. The company did not disclose the financial value or duration of the agreement.
Ferritic stainless steel is used in automotive components, railway coaches, kitchen equipment, industrial machinery, construction and other value-added applications. The material is among the stainless steel grades used in sectors where corrosion resistance, durability and lifecycle costs are important considerations.
Under the agreement, JFE Steel will support Jindal Stainless’ ongoing efforts to strengthen product quality and manufacturing practices for the specified grades. The collaboration is intended to build capabilities across the company’s people, processes and production practices, Jindal Stainless said.
“JFE Steel’s decades of expertise in ferritic stainless steel manufacturing will help us further strengthen product quality and operational excellence,” Jindal Stainless Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said. “More importantly, this association is about building capabilities that create greater value for our customers by strengthening our people, processes, and practices through this agreement.”
The pact comes as stainless steel demand is rising across automotive, infrastructure, railways, process industries and other value-added applications. The material’s corrosion resistance, durability and lower lifecycle costs have supported its adoption across these sectors, according to the company’s statement.
Ferritic stainless steel grades are also being positioned as a growth segment for applications that require cost-efficient and durable material solutions. Industry estimates cited in the announcement indicate that the global stainless steel market, including the ferritic segment, is expected to see steady growth over the coming decade.
Jindal Stainless reported an annual turnover of Rs 42,955 crore in financial year 2025-26. As of March 2026, it had 16 stainless steel manufacturing and processing facilities in India and abroad, including facilities in Spain and Indonesia. The company also had a worldwide network spanning 12 countries.
The agreement’s immediate implementation milestones and any changes to Jindal Stainless’ production capacity were not disclosed in the announcement. The company said JFE Steel’s support would cover the manufacturing and quality practices associated with the grades specified under the pact.
