In a significant move highlighting its prowess in the renewable energy sector, Jakson Green has inked its maiden Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power project
This milestone not only positions Jakson Green as a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) but also underscores its pivotal role in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy landscape. The PPA, a result of SECI’s Tranche XI auction for grid-connected solar projects in India held last year, solidifies Jakson Green’s commitment to sustainable power generation. The company assumes a comprehensive role in the project lifecycle, from identifying suitable land and project installation to ownership acquisition, approvals procurement, and seamless integration with the ISTS network to supply power to SECI. Operational within 18 months from the PPA signing date, the project ensures a continuous power supply for 25 years, earmarked for sale to various distribution companies (discom entities) across India.
“We are thrilled to initiate our collaboration with SECI starting with this project, first of many more to follow in times to come,” said Kannan Krishnan, joint managing director of Jakson Green. “This agreement reinforces our commitment to partnering with leading organisations to accelerate India’s clean energy transition. We are confident this project will significantly contribute to the nation’s renewable energy goals and create lasting value for all stakeholders.”
Beyond the commercial benefits for stakeholders, the project is poised to make a substantial environmental impact. Anticipated to generate clean energy capable of powering nearly one lakh households annually, it is expected to mitigate approximately 188,000 MT/year of carbon emissions. Additionally, the project is set to create valuable job opportunities during both the construction and operation phases, contributing to socio-economic development. Jakson Green’s foray into a long-term partnership with SECI not only underscores its commitment to India’s renewable energy goals but also aligns with the nation’s broader objectives of reducing carbon emissions and fostering sustainable energy practices.
