Jaipur experienced showers and a sharp dip in daytime temperatures as the weather system linked to Cyclone Arnab weakened into a deep depression, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting more rain and thunderstorms across several Rajasthan divisions over the next couple of days.
The city recorded a minimum temperature of 22°C, while the maximum reached 27.4°C, nearly 5°C below normal. Cloudy conditions prevailed through the afternoon before showers were reported in parts of Jaipur, including Tonk Road, Bapu Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Malviya Nagar and Jagatpura.
The IMD Jaipur forecast rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms at several places in the Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota and Udaipur divisions. The weather activity has been associated with the deep depression formed after Cyclone Arnab affected Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Rajasthan.
The Met office has indicated that maximum and minimum temperatures across Rajasthan may fall by 3-5°C. The expected decline would bring cooler conditions to several parts of the state after the rain and thunderstorms. The forecast covers the next couple of days, although the report did not specify the intensity or duration of rainfall for individual neighbourhoods.
Rainfall was also reported from several districts. Sikar, Alwar, Bharatpur, Ajmer and Kotputli-Behror recorded moderate to heavy showers, while parts of the state saw mild to moderate rainfall. The weather system produced contrasting conditions across Rajasthan, with some locations recording significantly cooler mornings while western districts remained warmer during the day.
Fatehpur and Nagaur were among the coldest places in the state, each recording a minimum temperature of 11.3°C. Pilani recorded 15°C, followed by Bhilwara at 16.8°C, Sriganganagar at 17.3°C and Banasthali at 17.6°C. Ajmer recorded a minimum of 18°C, while Chittorgarh and Bikaner registered 18.2°C each.
Western Rajasthan continued to experience relatively warmer daytime conditions. Barmer recorded the state’s highest maximum among the locations listed, at 35.8°C, followed by Jodhpur at 34.3°C and Jaisalmer at 34.2°C. Churu and Sriganganagar recorded maximum temperatures of 32.7°C each. The IMD’s rainfall and thunderstorm forecast remains the next official milestone for residents and local authorities monitoring conditions across the affected divisions.
