HYDRAA has protected 577 square yards of parkland in Kuntloor and 639 square yards of public utility land in Chengicherla, while removing three illegal borewells and three illegal water sumps in Tellapur, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
At Kuntloor’s Manjira Colony, the agency fenced the 577-square-yard parkland after residents complained about encroachment. The land had allegedly been converted into plots and sold to third parties.
Following the complaints, HYDRAA inspected the site and determined that it was designated as parkland. The agency then removed boundary walls installed by third parties and fenced the area to protect it from further encroachment.
In Chengicherla, HYDRAA protected 639 square yards of public utility land in Sri Laxminagar Colony. The land forms part of a 67-layout area and is located on Survey Nos. 33/3 and 33/4.
According to the report, the open land had been converted into layouts and sold. HYDRAA removed the pre-cast walls installed around the property and secured the land as public utility space.
The agency also took action in Tellapur against unauthorised water-related infrastructure. It removed three illegal borewells and three illegal water sumps across the area.
The actions highlight the role of HYDRAA in responding to complaints involving public land, open spaces and unauthorised structures. In Kuntloor, the intervention followed a complaint from colony residents, while the Chengicherla action concerned land identified as a public utility space within a larger layout area.
The reported measures included removing boundary walls and pre-cast walls, fencing parkland and dismantling illegal borewells and water sumps. No further details on the future use or development of the recovered land were provided in the report.
