India’s uneven monsoon movement is beginning to expose vulnerabilities in urban infrastructure, water management and climate preparedness across major cities, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) projects delayed rainfall in northern regions while heavy showers intensify elsewhere. The evolving Monsoon Forecast has become critical not only for agriculture but also for transport systems, public health and urban planning in rapidly expanding metropolitan centres.
According to recent IMD assessments, the southwest monsoon is progressing gradually across southern and eastern India, with rainfall activity strengthening in parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal and coastal regions over the coming days.
