Hyderabad Water Board Fines Paradise Hotel Rs 20,000 for Wastage

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has fined Paradise Hotel in Secunderabad Rs 20,000 after an inspection found the establishment misusing purified drinking water supplied by the board.

HMWSSB officials conducted the inspection on Monday and recorded the hotel under Consumer Account Number 612182839. According to the board’s findings reported by Telangana Today, the hotel management was using treated water in a manner officials considered misuse and wastage.

The action places a prominent commercial consumer under the city’s water-supply enforcement framework. HMWSSB advised the hotel management to use the supplied water judiciously and take steps to prevent further wastage.

The board also warned that stricter action would follow if further instances of misuse were reported. The warning was issued under the regulations governing the use of water supplied through the city water network.

The case highlights the distinction between water access and responsible consumption within Hyderabad’s municipal supply system. HMWSSB supplies treated water to households, businesses and institutions across the metropolitan area, while its officials can inspect consumer connections and act against reported violations.

The board’s enforcement action comes as commercial establishments remain part of the city’s wider water-management system. Hotels and other high-footfall properties depend on regular municipal supply for operations, making their consumption practices relevant to the prevention of avoidable wastage.

For Paradise Hotel, the immediate penalty is Rs 20,000, accompanied by instructions to prevent further misuse. HMWSSB has stated that any repeated instance could attract action under the applicable regulations.
