Hyderabad-Tashkent direct flight services have begun with Centrum Air launching a twice-weekly connection between Hyderabad and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, creating what GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) described as the first direct air link between South India and Central Asia.
The inaugural flight departed from Hyderabad Airport in the presence of senior officials from GHIAL, Centrum Air and other stakeholders. The launch was marked by a special ceremony at the airport, according to a press release cited by Telangana Today.
The new route gives passengers from Hyderabad and the wider South Indian region direct access to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Previously, travellers between the two regions would generally have needed to use connecting routes, although the supplied announcement does not provide details of specific earlier travel options, journey times or fares.
GHIAL said the service would strengthen Hyderabad Airport’s international connectivity and support business, trade and cultural exchanges between South India and Central Asia. The route adds an international connection to Hyderabad’s airport network at a time when airport connectivity is being used to link regional passenger markets with overseas destinations. For passengers, the immediate operational change is the availability of a direct option between Hyderabad and Tashkent twice a week.
