HYDERABAD: Malkajgiri civic authorities have begun coordinated preparations for Ganesh idol immersion, with officials reviewing road access, sanitation, lighting and traffic arrangements ahead of the 2026 festivities. The exercise is aimed at keeping procession routes accessible while limiting disruptions to residents and ensuring essential civic services remain operational.
The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation commissioner reviewed the arrangements with heads of different departments at the corporation’s Tarnaka office. Officials were asked to identify and remove obstructions along designated procession routes and coordinate road-related works well before immersion activity increases. The focus on advance coordination reflects the logistical pressure created by large religious processions in densely populated urban areas. Temporary traffic diversions, roadside activity and crowds can place additional demands on roads, drainage, waste collection and public lighting. Civic departments have therefore been asked to work together rather than address individual issues separately. Road works will need to be coordinated with procession movement, while sanitation teams are expected to maintain cleanliness along routes and around areas where devotees gather.
Traffic management will also be important as vehicle movement can become constrained during peak procession periods. Clear routes and timely deployment of personnel can help reduce congestion while allowing emergency vehicles to move through affected areas. Officials are expected to monitor the identified routes during the immersion period and respond to problems as they arise.
