Several lakes across the city’s western growth corridor and surrounding suburbs have undergone ecological restoration in recent years through collaborations involving civic agencies, environmental organisations and corporate social responsibility funding. The effort reflects a broader recognition that urban lakes are not merely recreational assets but critical infrastructure in managing climate risks and water security. Urban planners warn that Hyderabad, like many expanding Indian cities, faces mounting pressure from shrinking natural drainage systems, encroachment, and changing rainfall patterns.
