Hyderabad Issues Traffic Plan For Yellamma Festival
Hyderabad: Traffic movement around Balkampet will be significantly altered on July 21 and 22 as authorities implement a comprehensive diversion plan for the annual Yellamma Kalyanam and Rathotsavam celebrations. The temporary arrangements are intended to manage heavy pedestrian and vehicle movement while ensuring safer access for thousands of devotees expected to attend the religious events.
The Hyderabad traffic diversions will affect several major roads surrounding the Balkampet Yellamma Temple, with vehicles approaching from SR Nagar, Begumpet, Fateh Nagar and adjoining localities being redirected through designated alternative routes. Officials have advised motorists to avoid the temple vicinity wherever possible to minimise congestion and reduce travel delays during the two-day event. According to the traffic management plan, vehicles approaching from Greenland, Matha Temple and Satyam Theatre towards Balkampet will be rerouted through SR Nagar Community Hall, Abhilasha Towers and B.K. Guda before reconnecting to Sanath Nagar or Fateh Nagar. Similarly, traffic arriving via the Fateh Nagar Flyover will be diverted through the road under bridge near Kattamaisamma Temple and Begumpet. Additional diversions will apply to vehicles travelling from Food World Junction and Begumpet towards Balkampet, with commuters directed through alternate corridors including Maithrivanam, Satyam Theatre and Greenland. Authorities have also announced the temporary closure of several connecting lanes and internal roads between the SR Nagar T Junction and Fateh Nagar to facilitate uninterrupted movement of festival processions and pedestrian crowds.
To accommodate the expected influx of visitors, designated parking locations have been identified at public grounds, institutional premises and open spaces near the temple precinct.
