A sub-inspector deployed for Ganesh immersion duty near Tank Bund in Hyderabad died after an unidentified biker allegedly hit him, with the rider fleeing the scene, police said.
The deceased officer was identified as SI Venkanna, who was attached to Kotagudem Two Town police station. According to Kotagudem police, personnel had been deployed near Tank Bund for duties connected with the immersion procession when the incident occurred.
Venkanna was rushed to a hospital for treatment after sustaining injuries in the collision. He later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
The biker involved in the incident fled the spot and remains absconding, according to the police account. The identity of the rider and the circumstances leading to the collision were not immediately established in the information available.
