Hyderabad: The redevelopment of Hi Tech City Railway Station has been completed under the Amrit Station Scheme, marking another step in the modernisation of Hyderabad’s suburban rail network. The upgraded station is expected to improve passenger convenience, accessibility and multimodal connectivity in one of the city’s fastest-growing technology and commercial districts.
Developed at an estimated cost of ₹26 crore, the station has been redesigned with upgraded commuter facilities, improved circulation spaces and enhanced accessibility features to support growing passenger demand. The project forms part of the national programme to modernise railway stations by creating safer, more efficient and passenger-friendly transport infrastructure. Located on the Lingampally–Secunderabad suburban rail corridor, the Hi Tech City Railway Station serves thousands of daily commuters travelling to Hyderabad’s western technology corridor. The station plays an important role in connecting residential neighbourhoods with employment centres, helping reduce dependence on private vehicles and supporting more sustainable urban mobility. The redevelopment includes a new entrance plaza, expanded circulation areas and an additional foot overbridge to improve passenger movement across platforms. Accessibility has also been strengthened through the installation of new lifts and escalators, making the station more convenient for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and travellers carrying luggage.
Passenger amenities have been further upgraded with improved waiting areas, modern toilet facilities, enhanced lighting, landscaping and clearer wayfinding signage. These improvements are intended to create a more comfortable commuter experience while improving operational efficiency within the station. Urban mobility experts note that modern suburban railway stations are becoming increasingly important as Hyderabad continues to expand beyond its traditional urban core.
