Traffic management officials have identified a recurring pattern during sudden downpours. Riders of two-wheelers and motorists often stop beneath elevated structures to avoid rain, reducing road capacity at critical junctions. While the practice appears temporary, officials say it can significantly affect traffic movement and delay access for ambulances, fire services and municipal response teams. The issue has gained attention as Hyderabad experiences more frequent and intense rainfall events linked to changing weather patterns. Urban planners note that climate-resilient cities depend not only on drainage infrastructure but also on maintaining uninterrupted movement for emergency vehicles during extreme weather. Recent rainfall across western Hyderabad, including major residential and employment hubs, highlighted the challenge.
