Hyderabad Clears Single H-CITI Corridor Near KBR Park

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee has approved a single elevated corridor from NFCL Junction near Punjagutta to Jubilee Hills Check Post under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure Project, or H-CITI.

The proposal was approved by the committee chaired by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of the Metropolitan Area and Urban Development Department. Officials have been directed to prepare fresh designs and cost estimates for the revised corridor plan.

The decision changes the structure of the planned road infrastructure around KBR Park, where GHMC has taken up flyover and underpass works valued at Rs 1,090 crore under Packages I and II. These works were planned for completion within two years, according to the report.

However, the status of the ongoing works around KBR Park remains unclear. GHMC sources said there was no clarity on whether the works already under way under the project would continue or be shelved following the approval of the revised single-corridor plan. The uncertainty places the implementation status of the existing packages alongside the need to prepare new designs and cost estimates.

The corridor will connect NFCL Junction near Punjagutta with Jubilee Hills Check Post, linking two important locations in Hyderabad’s western and central urban road network. The approval therefore involves not only a change in the proposed structure but also a fresh design and costing exercise before the revised plan can move towards execution.

The committee also approved three other traffic infrastructure proposals, according to a GHMC press release issued on Saturday. These include a steel flyover between Jubilee Hills and Muffakham Jah College, revised plans for the Aramgarh–Zoo Park grade separator, and multi-level flyovers at Owaisi Hospital and Bahadurpura junctions.

Taken together, the approvals cover elevated corridors, a steel flyover, a grade separator and multi-level junction infrastructure. The immediate next step for the revised H-CITI corridor is the preparation of new designs and cost estimates. The report does not provide a revised construction timeline or clarify the final decision on the works already being undertaken around KBR Park.
