Hindalco Q2 Profit Surges 59% as Revenue Hits Rs 91,708 Crore

Hindalco Industries reported a 59% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 7,532 crore for the second quarter of FY27, while revenue from operations rose nearly 39% to Rs 91,708 crore, according to results released on Friday. The performance was supported by higher earnings across aluminium, copper and other non-LME-linked businesses.

The company’s net profit stood at Rs 4,741 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26. The latest figure included exceptional gains of Rs 284 crore, compared with an exceptional loss of Rs 182 crore in the year-ago period. Excluding these one-time items, Hindalco said net profit grew by more than 47% year on year.

Hindalco’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation rose 42% to Rs 13,757 crore. Upstream EBITDA increased 55% to Rs 7,009 crore, while EBITDA from non-LME-linked businesses climbed 50% to Rs 6,860 crore during the quarter.

The company’s copper business recorded a 164% year-on-year increase in quarterly EBITDA to a record Rs 1,673 crore. Hindalco attributed the performance to its integrated business model, which combines primary upstream operations with downstream, value-added products. The company said non-LME-linked businesses contributed almost half of its earnings during the quarter.

The results are significant for the industrial materials sector because Hindalco operates across aluminium, copper and downstream products used in manufacturing and infrastructure supply chains. The company said the performance showed resilience despite volatility in London Metal Exchange-linked businesses and wider global macroeconomic pressures.

Satish Pai, Managing Director of Hindalco Industries, said the company delivered its strongest-ever quarterly performance, with revenue and profit exceeding previous highs. “Our long-term strategy of building an integrated business model across upstream metals and downstream value-added products is translating into a stronger and more resilient earnings profile,” Pai said, according to the company’s statement.

Pai said the commissioning and ramp-up of Bay Minette, copper recycling, aluminium battery foil, Aditya FRP and Inner Grooved Tubes projects would increase the contribution of non-LME-linked businesses. The company also said its aluminium refinery and smelter projects, copper smelters and coal mine projects remained on track.

Hindalco shares initially fell around 5% during Friday’s trading session amid concerns about margin pressure at Novelis. The stock recovered most of those losses after the results were announced and was trading less than 1% lower at about Rs 930 apiece, according to the report. The company’s market capitalisation was above Rs 2.09 lakh crore.

The stock had gained around 6% over the previous week and more than 4% in 2026, while the broader Nifty 50 had declined by more than 5% during the year. Hindalco shares had delivered returns of about 19% over one year, 94% over three years and 98% over five years, according to the report.
