HYDERABAD: Several parts of Telangana experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday, with Hyderabad witnessing substantial downpours. The highest recorded rainfall within the city was 43.5 mm in Kapra, followed by 35.3 mm in Hayathnagar, 23.3 mm in Secunderabad, 21.8 mm in Uppal, 19.3 mm in Malkajgiri, 18 mm in Saroornagar, and 15.8 mm in Gajularamaram.
Across the state, the highest rainfall was recorded in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri at 69 mm. Other notable figures include 65.8 mm in Siddipet, 65.5 mm in Medchal Malkajgiri, 60.5 mm in Medak, 46.5 mm in Nirmal, and 45.5 mm in Sangareddy.
The directorate of enforcement vigilance and disaster management (EVDM) reported attending to four complaints of tree and branch falls and nine instances of water stagnation until 8 pm. This highlights the immediate impact of the heavy rains on the urban infrastructure and the response required to mitigate these issues.
In response to the current weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Telangana for the next two days. The forecast includes thunderstorms accompanied by rain, lightning, and gusty winds. These weather events are expected to occur in isolated areas across several districts, including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
The issuance of the yellow alert indicates the need for heightened vigilance and preparedness.
