Haryana Faces Heavy Rainfall as Orange Alert Issued in 11 Districts

Haryana is witnessing persistent heavy rainfall, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures and widespread waterlogging across several districts. On Wednesday morning, downpours were recorded in Sonipat, Bhiwani, and Kurukshetra, while thick cloud cover loomed over many other parts of the state. The Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh has issued an orange alert for 11 districts, indicating a likelihood of continued intense rainfall.

The state has received 32% more rainfall than normal so far this monsoon season. Tuesday’s rain affected eight districts, causing major traffic disruptions and waterlogging. By Wednesday morning, heavy rain resumed in areas like Bhiwani and Sonipat, further exacerbating the situation.

In Charkhi Dadri’s Kheri Sanwal village, a house owned by a local resident, Dhoop Singh, collapsed due to the downpour. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Meanwhile, dark clouds continue to hover over regions such as Rohtak, Panipat, Ambala, Panchkula, Jhajjar, Kaithal, Yamunanagar, and Hisar, with further rain expected in the coming days.

An orange alert has been issued for Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Jind, Karnal, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, and Ambala. Other parts of the state may experience light rain as well.

Weather forecasts suggest that rain will persist over the next three days. On Tuesday, Haryana recorded a significant 1.6°C drop in maximum temperature, bringing the state’s average temperature 1.7°C below normal. While Ambala experienced the biggest temperature decline, Hisar recorded a sharp 5°C increase, peaking at 37°C. Sirsa remained the hottest district at 39.2°C.

While the rain has brought much-needed relief from the heatwave, it has also triggered property damage, travel disruptions, and safety concerns. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as conditions remain unstable.
