Gurugram: As persistent monsoon showers continue across the district, the local administration has intensified its flood response strategy by placing critical urban locations under continuous monitoring and directing emergency teams to remain operational throughout the day.

The move reflects growing efforts to reduce disruption to mobility, protect public safety and improve the city’s resilience against increasingly unpredictable rainfall patterns. Officials overseeing the district’s disaster response have instructed civic agencies to maintain uninterrupted surveillance of flood-prone locations and respond immediately whenever water accumulation is reported. The objective is to minimise traffic disruptions, reduce risks to commuters and ensure that essential public services continue functioning despite ongoing rainfall. The district has witnessed sustained rainfall over the past several days, with more than 75 millimetres recorded during the latest spell. Such rainfall, while beneficial for groundwater recharge, also exposes the limitations of urban drainage systems that struggle during high-intensity downpours.
