Gujarat Unseasonal Rain Alert: 9 Districts Face Showers

Gujarat is likely to receive unseasonal rain in parts of Saurashtra and south Gujarat on 30 and 31 October, with the weather department forecasting light to moderate showers and possible thunderstorms in several districts. The forecast follows a change in atmospheric conditions linked to an active western disturbance and a low-pressure system.

According to the report by Gujarat Samachar, scattered light to moderate rain is expected on 30 October in Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Tapi, Navsari, Dang and Valsad districts. The forecast covers isolated locations in these districts rather than indicating uniform rainfall across each area.

For 31 October, the weather department has forecast rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at isolated places in Rajkot, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Navsari and Valsad. Tapi and Dang are not included in the report’s list for Saturday, while the forecast continues for the other seven districts named for that day.

The change in weather conditions has already been observed in parts of the state. Rain showers were reported in Ahmedabad and surrounding areas on the evening of 29 October, according to the report. The latest forecast indicates that the weather system could bring further rainfall to coastal, southern and Saurashtra districts over the next two days.

Unseasonal rain in late October can affect daily movement, outdoor work and local road conditions, particularly in places that receive sudden showers or thunderstorms. Residents in the forecast areas may also face short-term disruptions from wet roads, reduced visibility and lightning during periods of intense weather. The report does not provide a district-wise rainfall measurement or specify expected rainfall totals.

The forecast has particular significance for farmers in the affected districts. The report advised farmers to remain alert as the rain is occurring outside the usual seasonal pattern. The warning comes as the western disturbance and low-pressure area remain active, with both systems identified as the reasons for the expected change in weather.

The forecast period extends through 31 October, when thunderstorm activity is expected in seven districts. Residents and local authorities will be monitoring conditions in the listed areas as the weather department’s warning remains in effect.
