Greater Noida: Authorities have introduced a temporary traffic management plan around India Expo Mart from 5 to 8 August as two large public events are expected to draw thousands of visitors daily. The move aims to maintain traffic flow on key urban corridors, reduce congestion around the exhibition district and minimise disruption for commuters, businesses and nearby residential neighbourhoods during one of the city’s busiest event periods.
According to officials overseeing traffic operations, daily footfall at the exhibition venue is expected to reach between 5,000 and 6,000 visitors. With increased vehicle movement anticipated around the Expo Mart precinct, traffic personnel have prepared alternative routing arrangements that can be activated whenever congestion reaches critical levels. Under the Greater Noida Traffic Advisory, vehicles approaching from the Galgotias side and travelling towards the IFS Villa corridor may be diverted away from the main Expo Mart roundabout if traffic volumes increase. Instead, motorists could be directed through larger connecting intersections before rejoining their intended routes. Event-bound vehicles, meanwhile, will continue to receive guided access to the exhibition complex through designated approach roads to reduce conflict with through traffic. Officials have also prepared contingency measures for parking management. Visitors attending the exhibitions have been instructed to use parking facilities within the Expo Mart campus wherever available.
If on-site parking reaches capacity, vehicles will be redirected to an overflow parking area near the larger roundabout, helping prevent roadside parking that often narrows carriageways and slows emergency movement. Urban mobility specialists note that such traffic management strategies have become increasingly important as Greater Noida hosts larger business exhibitions, technology events and public conventions. While these gatherings contribute to the regional economy by attracting investment, trade and tourism, they also place significant pressure on road infrastructure designed primarily for routine commuter traffic. Event districts require transport planning that balances economic activity with uninterrupted mobility for residents, freight movement and essential services. Temporary diversions, when communicated effectively and supported by real-time traffic monitoring, can reduce delays while limiting unnecessary vehicle idling, which contributes to fuel consumption and emissions.
Traffic authorities have advised commuters to check route updates before travelling, allow additional journey time and follow on-ground traffic directions throughout the four-day period. Urban planners argue that as Greater Noida continues to develop as a destination for international exhibitions and commercial events, future investments in intelligent transport systems, integrated parking management and multimodal connectivity will become essential to support sustainable urban growth without compromising everyday mobility.
