Greater Noida RERA dues exceeding ₹77.66 crore have led the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration to arrest Bunty, a director of Ansal Hi-Tech Townships Ltd, after the company allegedly failed to pay the amount despite repeated notices, according to the administration as reported by Navbharat Times.
The recovery action relates to dues of ₹77,66,80,434, along with applicable interest, recorded as land-revenue arrears. The recovery certificates issued by the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority were being enforced through the Dadri tehsil against Ansal Hi-Tech Townships Ltd and Uttam Steels Associates Ltd.
District officials said the firms were served demand notices in accordance with the prescribed procedure and were given time to deposit the outstanding amount. The payment was not made within the stipulated period, following which a joint team of the police and revenue departments carried out the arrest.
According to the administration, the arrest order was issued under Section 171 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006, and the relevant provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code Rules, 2016. Recovery Form 37 was used for the action.
Bunty, identified as the son of Prahlad, was arrested and produced before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dadri. The administration identified him as a director of both Ansal Hi-Tech Townships Ltd and Uttam Steels Associates Ltd.
After being produced before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Bunty was given an opportunity to present his position, officials said. He was also given the option of depositing the dues or furnishing adequate bail or security against the outstanding amount. The administration said that neither the dues were deposited nor sufficient security provided.
He was subsequently sent to Gautam Buddh Nagar district jail after being placed in custody for a period of up to 15 days, according to the report. The action forms part of a special campaign being conducted by the district administration to recover outstanding revenue.
The case illustrates how RERA recovery certificates can move beyond regulatory orders into the revenue administration system when dues remain unpaid. In this instance, the recovery process involved the district revenue machinery, police personnel and proceedings before the Dadri subdivision authorities.
The district administration said further action would be taken against defaulters who do not make payment despite being given the prescribed opportunity. Depending on the circumstances and applicable legal provisions, officials said measures including attachment, auction and arrest may be used to recover outstanding amounts.
The administration added that recovery proceedings against other defaulters would continue under the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code and related rules.
