A state-appointed high-level committee reviewing Maharashtra’s government recruitment examinations will meet students and candidates at Savitribai Phule Pune University on September 12, giving aspirants and other stakeholders an opportunity to raise concerns about examination security, transparency and administration.
The interaction will begin at 10.30 a.m., according to information released by Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi. The committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of an additional chief secretary to conduct a comprehensive review of the existing examination system and recommend measures to prevent malpractice.
The review covers examinations conducted by various state government departments, authorities and examination agencies. Along with students and candidates, the committee is seeking feedback from parents, teachers, educational institutions, coaching classes, study-room operators and public representatives in every revenue division of Maharashtra.
Among the issues under consideration are the preparation and moderation of question papers, the distribution and confidential transportation of digital or printed papers, examination-centre management, recording of responses, evaluation and the security of the results process. The committee is also seeking suggestions on the use of digital systems, biometric authentication, access controls, audit trails and closed-circuit television surveillance.
The consultation will additionally examine preventive measures against question-paper leaks, breaches of confidentiality, impersonation by dummy candidates, collusion and the misuse of electronic devices. Suggestions are also being invited on fixing accountability for irregularities, studying secure examination systems used in other states or countries, establishing minimum infrastructure and safety standards at examination centres, improving coordination among government agencies and creating a faster, more transparent grievance-redressal mechanism for candidates.
For people in Pune district who cannot attend the interaction, the district collector’s office has established a special cell from September 7 to 10. Suggestions, recommendations, objections and written representations can be submitted at the office between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. during this period. The district administration will compile the submissions received through the special cell and forward them to the high-level committee. The committee will examine the feedback and submit a comprehensive final report to the Maharashtra government, Collector Dudi said in the release.
