Mumbai Police have closed a key slip road in Goregaon West for one month to allow pillar construction for the Mumbai Coastal Road Project’s North Package B, creating a temporary diversion for vehicles travelling towards MTNL Junction and SV Road.
The restriction took effect after a traffic notification issued on October 9 by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Western Suburbs, Ajit Borhade. The closure will remain in place until November 9, 2026.
The affected road connects Vasari Hill Junction towards MTNL Junction on Swami Vivekanand Road. Vehicles will not be permitted to use this stretch while construction work is under way near the Veer Savarkar Flyover.
According to the notification, the restriction is required for excavation and construction of 52 pillars along a 1,500-metre stretch. The broader section covered by the work runs from Mind Space and MDP Creek Road, also known as Back Road, towards Veer Savarkar Garden and Inorbit Mall Junction, extending up to the Veer Savarkar Flyover on SV Road.
The closure is intended to provide space for construction activity and reduce safety risks for motorists and workers at the site. It also forms part of the traffic management arrangements for the Coastal Road Project’s North Package B, where pillar-related work is being carried out along an active urban corridor.
Traffic Police have prescribed separate arrangements for motorists travelling through Goregaon West. Vehicles moving from Inorbit Mall Junction via Vasari Hill Road towards Goregaon East will not be affected and can continue to use the Veer Savarkar Flyover.
Motorists travelling from Inorbit Mall Junction towards MTNL Junction or SV Road must turn left at Vasari Hill Junction near EazeZone Mall. They have been directed to travel past D G Khetan International School and use Sundar Nagar Road to reach their destinations.
Mumbai Traffic Police have asked motorists to follow directional signboards and instructions from personnel deployed in the area. Commuters have also been advised to use the designated alternative routes and plan their journeys in advance to reduce delays during the month-long restriction.
The traffic order has been issued under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Rule 59 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. The road closure will remain in force until November 9, subject to the construction schedule and further directions from the traffic authorities.
