Ghaziabad traffic diversions came into force at 7 am on Thursday for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to Raj Nagar Extension, where he is scheduled to address a rally and lead a 1,400-metre foot march. The restrictions will remain in place until the programme ends and will affect routes near Rotary Gol Chakkar, ALT, Hindon Metro station and surrounding areas.
The police have deployed more than 2,000 personnel for the event, according to Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Rajkaran Naiyyar. Senior officers, including deputy commissioners, additional deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners of police, have been assigned to different points along the route and at the programme venue.
The planned march is part of the BJP’s “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” programme. The chief minister is expected to address a public meeting before walking approximately 1.4 km to the event location in Raj Nagar Extension. BJP leaders have said that thousands of workers from western Uttar Pradesh are expected to attend.
Under the traffic plan issued by the police, vehicle movement will be stopped in both directions between Rotary Gol Chakkar and ALT. Commercial vehicles travelling from the Diamond Flyover red light towards Hapur Chungi will also be barred. Traffic moving from Hindon Metro station towards Rotary Gol Chakkar will be restricted.
Additional restrictions will apply on the Karhera intersection–Nagdwara–Rotary Gol Chakkar route. Vehicles travelling from Karan Gate and Lajpat Nagar towards Hindon Air Force Gol Chakkar will also not be allowed to proceed in that direction. The restrictions are intended to manage crowd movement and maintain the security perimeter around the chief minister’s route.
Ghaziabad police have declared the entire commissionerate area a no-drone and temporary red zone in view of the visit. An order issued by the Additional Commissioner of Police prohibits the use of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, paragliders, hot-air balloons and other flying objects until midnight on November 5. Organisers and media personnel will require permission from the relevant authorities for aerial photography or videography.
Security arrangements include police personnel positioned along the march route and at the venue, as well as armed teams monitoring surrounding high-rise locations. Dog squads and bomb-disposal teams have also been activated. Police officials conducted a rehearsal and reviewed the security arrangements on Wednesday.
The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has prepared the route by repairing approximately three kilometres of road, repainting sections of dividers and planting greenery in divider spaces. The civic body has also deployed health department teams for sanitation work, with cleaning scheduled along the foot-march route on Thursday.
The traffic restrictions will continue until the programme concludes, after which the police are expected to restore normal movement on the affected routes.
