Freedom Park Bengaluru Gets Civic Push for Cleaner, Safer Upgrade

Freedom Park Bengaluru is set for a civic improvement drive after city civic commissioner G. Jagadish directed officials to accelerate cleanliness, maintenance and facility upgrades at the centrally located public park.

Jagadish inspected the park with civic officials and said it should be developed as a clean, attractive and well-equipped model park. He noted that residents, children and senior citizens visit the space in large numbers for morning and evening walks, while tourists also come to the park.

Officials were instructed to immediately remove garbage and construction debris accumulated in and around the park and maintain a cleaner environment. The commissioner also directed them to ensure that the park remains green and provides a better public setting for visitors.

The civic administration was asked to review all pending development and maintenance works and complete them on a priority basis. The directions include improving electricity connections, drinking-water facilities, walking paths and security arrangements.

Jagadish also called for publicity and awareness measures to inform more people about the park’s features and the facilities available to visitors. The move places routine maintenance and public-use infrastructure at the centre of the proposed upgrade rather than limiting the exercise to beautification.

The inspection was attended by joint commissioner Hemant Sharan, executive engineer Pradeep, assistant executive engineers and assistant engineers. The civic authorities are expected to identify pending works and take them up for completion as part of the improvement measures.
