EaseMyTrip has launched electric bus operations in Bhopal through its electric mobility arm Easy Green Mobility, as the company begins implementing a plan to build annual manufacturing capacity of 5,000 electric buses within five years.
The deployment is part of Easy Green Mobility’s “Vision 2030” roadmap and will cover electric bus manufacturing, fleet operations, service support and the progressive localisation of components. The company said its initial focus would be on fulfilling committed electric bus deliveries while building the operational and service infrastructure required for expansion.
Easy Green Mobility’s operating arm, YOLO Bus, currently runs conventional intercity routes across several southern Indian markets. The new electric bus programme builds on that operating experience while extending the company’s presence into electric intra-city and intercity mobility.
The first electric coach being developed by the company is a 12-metre seater bus with capacity for 45 passengers plus the driver. It uses a lithium iron phosphate battery with total energy capacity of 423.9 kWh, a permanent-magnet synchronous motor, air suspension and electro-hydraulic power steering. The vehicle is designed to offer a range of up to 350 km and a top speed of up to 100 km per hour.
The buses also include electronic braking and electronic stability control systems, along with camera-based monitoring. Easy Green Mobility is developing additional driver-monitoring and blind-spot detection capabilities using artificial intelligence, while advanced driver-assistance systems form part of its broader technology roadmap.
Manoj Soni, chief executive officer of Easy Green Mobility, said the company was focused on developing intra-city and intercity electric buses combining long-range battery technology, fast charging, advanced safety systems and passenger comfort. He said the objective was to create a scalable mobility ecosystem supporting India’s shift towards cleaner and more efficient transportation.
Rikant Pittie, chief executive officer and co-founder of EaseMyTrip, said transportation needs were changing rapidly and that reliable, sustainable mobility infrastructure would be important for the next phase of economic and tourism growth.
The Bhopal launch places the company’s electric bus plans within the wider challenge of expanding lower-emission public and shared transport without compromising route reliability, vehicle range or maintenance support. The company said electric buses could provide an alternative to conventional diesel-powered transport and reduce dependence on fossil fuels while improving operating efficiency in intercity travel.
Easy Green Mobility also expects the initiative to create employment across manufacturing, fleet operations, service support and related ancillary activities as the business scales. Its stated priorities include progressive localisation of electric vehicle components and the development of supporting service infrastructure.
The company’s immediate next step is to deliver its committed electric buses and strengthen operations and support systems before pursuing the planned expansion towards annual manufacturing capacity of 5,000 units within five years.
