DoorDash has opened its first India office in Hyderabad and plans to increase staffing at the facility from an initial 500 employees to more than 3,000 within the next two years, strengthening the city’s position as a base for global digital operations.
The NASDAQ-listed local commerce platform opened the office, which it calls a Talent Hub, on September 30. Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu inaugurated the facility in the presence of DoorDash CFO Ravi Inukonda, senior director for Workforce Strategy and Talent Acquisition Operations Jenna Kohnke and other members of the company’s leadership team.
DoorDash said the Hyderabad hub will support its global operations and help deliver services for consumers, merchants and delivery workers, known as “Dashers”, across the markets where it operates. The company will begin operations at the facility in October and plans to move to a larger facility by April 2027 as its team expands.
The Hyderabad centre will be DoorDash’s third internal Customer Experience and Integrity service centre globally, after facilities in Tempe, Arizona, and Mexico City. The company said the office would draw on Hyderabad’s technology ecosystem and talent pool while creating long-term career opportunities.
The minister’s office said the facility’s headcount is expected to cross 3,000 within two years. The announcement adds to a series of investments by technology and digital commerce companies in Hyderabad, including Amazon, Walmart, FedEx, Zomato, Uber and Swiggy, according to the report.
DoorDash operates in more than 40 countries and reported more than $100 billion in Marketplace Gross Order Value in 2025. The company said it has more than 65% of the market in the United States, where it is the leading platform.
The office opening also comes as Telangana seeks to expand Hyderabad’s role as a global capability-centre destination. The city currently hosts more than 500 GCCs, with more than five lakh people employed in them, according to the minister’s office. The State government is targeting more than 100 additional GCCs, over one lakh new high-value jobs and more than three lakh indirect jobs. It expects GCC employment in Hyderabad to reach 10 lakh by 2029.
“DoorDash choosing Hyderabad to build capabilities to drive its rapid growth is a strong validation of how the city has evolved as a global talent hub,” Mr. Sridhar Babu said.
“Establishing DoorDash’s first hub in India is an important milestone in expanding our global operations network,” Ms. Kohnke said.
DoorDash’s initial hiring and planned expansion will place its facility within Hyderabad’s wider technology and global-services employment market. The company has not disclosed further details of the office location, investment value or the specific functions and hiring schedule for the additional positions. Operations are scheduled to start in October, followed by the planned move to a larger facility in April 2027.
