Delhi Weather Forecast: Dry Sunday Before Rain Returns This Week

Delhi is likely to remain dry and sunny on October 5, with winds of around 20-22 kmph, before isolated to scattered rainfall becomes possible across Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh from October 6 to 7, according to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The forecast indicates no significant rainfall for the national capital on October 5. The city is expected to experience sunny conditions, while the current dry spell is likely to continue for another day. The next notable possibility of rain over Delhi is forecast between October 6 and 8.

The IMD has not issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain or other severe weather in Uttar Pradesh. Its latest warning bulletin also contains no weather warning for east or west Uttar Pradesh from October 5 to 9.

The forecast comes as the southwest monsoon continues its withdrawal from parts of north and central India. The IMD expects the monsoon to withdraw further during the next two to three days from parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha, Bihar and Jharkhand, some additional areas of central Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, and parts of Telangana and north interior Karnataka.

Across the country, rainfall activity is expected to continue in several southern, eastern and northeastern regions. Kerala and Mahe are likely to remain under a fairly widespread to widespread rainfall spell through October 7, with isolated heavy rain possible from October 5 to 6. South Interior Karnataka may also receive isolated heavy rain on October 5.

The IMD has forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over parts of southern India. Strong surface winds are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Rayalaseema on October 5. Odisha may receive isolated to scattered rainfall through October 7, while Bihar and Jharkhand could see isolated to scattered rain from October 5.

Parts of the Northeast are expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning, with isolated heavy rainfall possible over Arunachal Pradesh. Rainfall activity is likely to continue in the region through October 7. Chhattisgarh, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra may also receive isolated to scattered rain during the same period.

In northwest India, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may receive showers from October 5 to 7. Isolated to scattered rain is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on October 6 and 7. The IMD has issued a thunderstorm and lightning warning for Himachal Pradesh for October 6 and 7.

The monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of Maharashtra, with the IMD reporting that 20 of the state’s 36 districts have recorded deficient rainfall. It has also withdrawn from the remaining parts of North India, the entire Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, and parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.

For Delhi residents, the immediate forecast remains dry weather on October 5, followed by the possibility of isolated to scattered rain from October 6. The IMD’s next two- to three-day withdrawal outlook will determine how the regional weather pattern develops.
