Delhi will launch a month-long Seva Sankalp campaign on September 17, combining the inauguration and foundation laying of development projects worth about ₹13,820 crore with public health, sanitation, environmental and welfare programmes, according to an announcement by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The campaign, being organised by the Delhi government and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi unit, will begin on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and continue for one month. Gupta announced the programme at a press conference at the Delhi BJP office, saying it would involve beneficiaries, elected representatives and party workers rather than being limited to party members.
The announcement includes projects related to the cleaning of the Yamuna, with projects worth around ₹8,000 crore scheduled for inauguration or foundation laying. The government will also present its forthcoming plans for the river during the campaign. The announcement did not provide a project-wise list, execution agencies, funding details or completion timelines for these works.
Special camps will be held in all assembly constituencies for three days each to provide information about central and Delhi government welfare schemes and help residents access their benefits. A large blood donation camp is planned for September 17, with a target of collecting 2,500 units in a single day.
The Social Welfare Department, working with the Health Department, will organise health check-up camps for 25,000 senior citizens. Delhi’s State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation, or SOTO, will also be launched during the campaign. The platform has been prepared in line with the system operated by the central government and is intended to raise awareness about organ donation in the capital.
The programme will include welfare activities at child care centres run under the Women and Child Development Department. The Labour Department will conduct a special drive to register workers and construction workers and arrange health check-ups for them. These measures bring informal and construction-sector workers into a campaign that otherwise combines public service activities with project announcements.
The Urban Development Department and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will conduct special cleanliness drives in every ward and assembly constituency. The Environment Department will continue work towards a target of planting 70 lakh trees, with plantation activities planned in each ward. The campaign will also include drawing, speech and reel competitions on the theme ‘My Dream India’, with five lakh school students expected to participate.
The government plans to honour 21,350 Anganwadi workers during the campaign. Other events announced by the Delhi BJP include service marches, a ‘Developed Delhi @2047’ resolution meeting and public programmes linked to the month-long initiative. The announcement did not specify the dates for each activity or identify the individual development projects included in the ₹13,820 crore package.
