Delhi Police Operation Milap Reunites 70 Missing People

Delhi Police’s South-West district teams traced and reunited 70 missing people, including 23 children, with their families during October under Operation Milap, according to police information reported by Millennium Post. The operation involved investigations across police stations and public transport locations in the South-West district.

Police said 47 adults and 23 children were traced between October 1 and October 31. Of the 70 people located during the month, 69 had been reported missing in 2026, while one adult man had gone missing in 2025. The department said the operation was conducted to ensure that missing people were safely returned to their families and to provide relief to relatives who had filed complaints.

The police teams used several methods during the searches. These included local investigations, examination of CCTV footage and circulation of photographs of missing people among auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers, bus staff and railway station personnel. Teams also spoke to bus drivers, conductors and local vendors, while local informants were used to gather information.

Police also checked records and contacted local police stations and hospitals as part of the tracing effort. The approach required coordination between field personnel and units dealing with locations where missing people could have travelled or sought assistance. The operation covered cases registered with multiple police stations in the district.

Kapashera police station recorded the highest number of recoveries among the stations identified in the report, tracing five missing minor girls and 13 adults. Palam Village police traced two children and seven adults, while Vasant Kunj South police located three children and eight adults. Sagarpur police traced one minor girl and seven adults.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit traced six children, including one boy and five girls, and also located two adult women. R.K. Puram, South Campus, Vasant Kunj North, Vasant Vihar, S.J. Enclave and Kishangarh police stations also contributed to the operation, with cases traced in their respective areas.

The October figures form part of a larger total reported by the South-West district police. From January 1 to October 31, police said they had traced 1,299 missing people, comprising 341 children and 958 adults. The department did not provide further details in the report about the circumstances in which the people went missing or how long individual searches lasted.

The latest operation highlights the role of police stations, transport networks, hospitals, local businesses and field-level informants in tracing missing people in a large urban district. Police said the effort would continue through complaint-based investigations and coordinated searches aimed at returning missing people to their families.
