Delhi NCR Special Trains Extended Till August To Ease Travel Demand
Northern Railway has extended operations of 18 special trains across key routes until the end of August, a move aimed at managing sustained passenger demand during the peak travel period. The extension will support mobility between Delhi NCR and several major cities, improving connectivity for commuters, workers, students and seasonal travellers relying on long-distance rail networks.
The decision comes as railway corridors continue to experience increased pressure due to rising intercity movement and changing travel patterns. For Delhi NCR, which acts as a major employment and transit hub, maintaining additional train capacity helps reduce pressure on roads and provides a more affordable transport option for a diverse section of passengers. The extended services cover routes connecting cities such as Ahmedabad, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Kanpur, Indore, Ayodhya, Malda Town and Bhagalpur. Among the services receiving additional operations are trains linked with Hazrat Nizamuddin, one of the busiest railway terminals serving the national capital region. Transport planners note that temporary rail capacity enhancements can play an important role in supporting balanced urban mobility.
